The Source |Chance the Rapper Discusses Co-Parenting and Announces New Album Star Line

Chance the Rapper is opening up about the personal side of his life, discussing the challenges and priorities of co-parenting following his divorce from Kirsten Corley. The former couple, who share two children, were the subject of a recent interview with Chance on CBS Mornings.

“She’s good. Hey Kirsten! And hey, Kensli and Marli,” the artist said. “You know, family is one of the biggest things for me, for her, for my kids, for my mom and dad. So I think the most important thing for anybody that’s having to navigate that is making sure you keep an environment for the kids where they understand that’s the priority.”

Chance also revealed that his song “Space and Time” is a very personal reflection on his family dynamic. He explained the track is about “navigating that relationship with the mother of my children.”

In other news, the Chicago rapper has officially announced the release date for his long-awaited second album, Star Line. According to his official website, the project is set to arrive on August 15, and fans can now pre-order it in various formats.

This will be Chance’s first full-length album since his 2019 project, The Big Day, which received a mixed reception from fans. While a tracklist for Star Line has not yet been unveiled, the rapper recently dropped a song with Lil Wayne and Smino, though it is unconfirmed if the track will be included on the final album.

Chance has been teasing the Star Line project for a while, even at one point delaying its release due to fan interaction on social media. In a video posted to Instagram last year, he expressed his frustration with followers who referred to the upcoming project as “the album” instead of its official title.

“Alright, so this was the main point I was trying to make: stop calling it ‘the album,’” he said in the video. “And I don’t mean that in an ungrateful way. I’m grateful that people are putting in my comments, ‘Drop the album.’ I’m not finna drop the album until y’all start calling it Star Line.” He went on to say he was holding off on the release, hoping his fans would understand the importance of the project’s official name.
