Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, is back in the shoe business with the relaunch of Yeezy.com. After the site was shut down by Shopify earlier this year, the 48-year-old artist returned this week with a new version of his popular site, featuring new products, including a pair of slides priced at just $20.
Eight new products are now available for sale. The slides, previously known as Adidas Yeezy slides, have been rebranded as the YS-01 and no longer feature a logo. Fans can also purchase the Yeezy Pods (PD-01), the SL-01 slide, high heels, and boots. Given Ye’s history, it would be a good idea for fans to make their purchases quickly before another controversy causes the site to be taken down. As with the artist behind the Vultures album, anything is possible.
The relaunch comes after a year of public controversy and erratic behavior from the Chicago producer. He has angered many with public declarations of love for Adolf Hitler, calling himself a Nazi, insulting Lizzo and other women, and feuding with various artists. The erratic behavior also extended to music, with him releasing a lot of music this year. In March, he shared a new track, “Bully,” and an accompanying short film. In May, he released a new single, “Alive,” with YoungBoy Never Broke Again. The song sampled DJ Swamp Izzo’s “Alive,” which Playboi Carti had also used for his song “Crank.”
Carti, who also had a version of “Alive” with NBA YoungBoy, leaked his record in retaliation against Ye. The feud between the two artists was largely due to a disagreement over Ye’s daughter, North West. Carti had wanted to get North on a song, and Kim Kardashian had permitted it. This was a reversal for Kardashian, who had previously taken issue with her ex-husband’s attempt to put their child on a track with Diddy.
