Jennifer Aniston is making it clear there is no truth to the rumors linking her romantically to Barack Obama, and she still has no idea how the speculation began. In a new Vanity Fair cover interview, the Friends star laughed off the gossip and explained she has actually spent more time with Michelle Obama than with Barack.
“I don’t think anyone really pays attention to reports like that if you’re the subject of them,” Aniston said. She shared that she recently enjoyed a dinner with Michelle, noting, “I was lucky enough to have dinner with Michelle a month ago,” and that the dating rumor was never brought up during their conversation.
The origins of the claim remain unclear, but it began circulating around the time Michelle Obama skipped a few major public events, including Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration and Jimmy Carter’s funeral. Michelle has since addressed both her absences and her marriage to Barack.
On the latest episode of her podcast IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson, Michelle and her brother were joined by the 44th president. Robinson joked, “Wait, you guys like each other? It’s so nice to have you both in the same room together.” Michelle responded, “I know because when we aren’t, folks think we’re divorced.” Barack playfully added, “She took me back! It was touch and go for a while.”
Michelle then made it clear there has never been talk of separation. “There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I’ve thought about quitting on my man,” she said. “And we’ve had some really hard times and we’ve had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”
