Looks like Lil Durk is preparing for a pivotal courtroom showdown this October, but that date might not hold. On September 12, prosecutors and lawyers for several of his co defendants asked the court to push the trial back to January, citing the case’s complexity and the heavy workload defense teams are facing. They argued that more time is needed to properly build their cases.

Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, made it clear he is not in favor of waiting any longer. In a motion filed on his behalf, his team stated, “Defendant Banks does not join in the stipulation to continue the trial,” showing his stance that he wants to stick to the original timeline and move forward.

Get this, Federal prosecutors are pushing in the opposite direction, framing the requested delay as both reasonable and necessary. In their view, the extension would still protect Durk’s right to a fair process while allowing everyone involved to navigate the layers of evidence and charges. The back and forth underscores the familiar clash between a defendant’s right to a speedy trial and the court’s responsibility to ensure due process.

What’s more, the filing also raised new questions. Two co defendants, Keith Jones and Kavon London Grant, were not included in the request for a delay, leaving uncertainty around their positions. Several other alleged members of Durk’s Only the Family crew, including Deandre Dontrell Wilson and Asa Houston, are also facing charges, adding even more complexity to a case that could stretch deep into 2026 before reaching its conclusion.
