Album Review: God Don’t Like Ugly by AJ Snow & Jansport J

AJ Snow and Jansport J are back again with their latest release, God Don’t Like Ugly. With Snow on the mic and Jansport J on production, the duo knocks it out of the park once again. Their chemistry continues to evolve, outshining their previous collaboration, Tomorrow, We Eating Steaks.

The album opens with the title track, “God Don’t Like Ugly,” where Snow reflects on his journey — gambling on himself, leaving Texas for L.A., and navigating the struggles of the music industry. It’s a deeply personal introduction that sets the tone for the rest of the record.

Next up, “Better Living” explores the pursuit of wealth and success, touching on the sacrifices required to get there. “Summertime in the Benz” captures the carefree, luxurious lifestyle that success can bring, while “Formula 1” channels themes of independence, ambition, and perseverance in the face of adversity — especially when dealing with fake friends who only pretend to want the best for him.

“Coastin’” (featuring Zoe Osama) keeps the momentum going with themes of staying on top, ignoring haters, and maintaining focus and resilience. “Pickleball in Porter Ranch” (featuring WesWill) highlights mental clarity, patience, faith, and gratitude — celebrating success while still keeping a grounded perspective.

On “Beach Day,” Snow paints a vivid picture of relaxation and joy — from enjoying time with a partner to soaking in the scenic beauty of the coast, all while maintaining a money-minded hustle. “Dumbo” (featuring JAMS The Flava Child and KoolKidKalvo) emphasizes self-made success and financial independence, carrying forward the album’s entrepreneurial spirit.

“Hella Elegant” (featuring The Musalini) dives into transformation and ambition, celebrating the rewards of hard work and the refinement that comes with it. Finally, “Mirror on the Wall” closes the project on a reflective note — confronting the realities of growing up in difficult circumstances, losing friends to the streets, and facing naysayers. Snow’s message of self-reliance, growth, and hope for a better future leaves a lasting impact.

God Don’t Like Ugly is a cohesive and introspective project that showcases both AJ Snow’s lyrical maturity and Jansport J’s refined, soulful production. Together, they deliver an inspiring body of work rooted in perseverance, self-belief, and authenticity.

ALbum Rating – 9/10
