Lord Finesse – By Loe Kee Phlicks

On Sunday, February 22nd, legendary MC and producer Lord Finesse brought true hip-hop energy to Los Angeles, shutting down the stage at The Regent Theater with a night fans won’t soon forget.

Representing the Bronx in full force, Lord Finesse curated a powerful lineup alongside comedian Russell Peters, with performances from Diamond D, Sadat X, Nice & Smooth, Peter Gunz, DJ Boogie Blind, and Psycho Les of The Beatnuts. The evening reached another level when KRS-One made a special guest appearance, delivering selections from his iconic catalog and electrifying the crowd.

The night doubled as a celebration—marking Lord Finesse’s birthday and the 30th anniversary of his classic album The Awakening. Three decades later, the project remains a timeless pillar in hip-hop culture, still in heavy rotation for fans who appreciate lyricism, production, and authenticity.

As Lord Finesse took the stage and commanded the show, Russell Peters kept the audience engaged and laughing as host for the evening. Diamond D and Sadat X brought raw energy and classic vibes, while Nice & Smooth delivered crowd favorites from their catalog with effortless chemistry. Psycho Les added that unmistakable Beatnuts flavor, bringing gritty beats and high-energy presence to the Los Angeles stage.

Peter Gunz turned up the momentum even further, surprising fans with appearances from Money B and Young Hump of Digital Underground, adding another layer of nostalgia and West Coast flavor to an already unforgettable night. The surprises didn’t stop there—Bumpy Knuckles also made a special guest appearance, igniting the crowd and reinforcing the night’s theme of elite lyricism and underground royalty.

From start to finish, the event was more than a concert—it was a celebration of legacy, culture, and the enduring power of real hip-hop.
