On Thursday, July 17th, West Coast legend Ras Kass lit up the scene as he hosted the latest 5 Mics session—an unforgettable night that celebrated hip-hop culture in full force. The highlight of the evening was the exclusive debut of East L.A., a powerful new single by will.i.am featuring Taboo, which had the crowd buzzing with energy.

Spinning the soundtrack for the night, DJ Fatlip set the tone with a masterclass in crate-digging—blending classic hip-hop cuts that had heads nodding and sneakers moving all night long. But the star power didn’t stop there.

The room was filled with heavyweights: Layzie Bone and Flesh-n-Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony pulled up, delivering their signature presence. Tash and King T of the iconic Likwit Crew came through, adding West Coast royalty to the mix. And rounding out the night’s roster was Mellow Man Ace, bringing his pioneering Latin rap energy into the building.

The atmosphere was pure hip-hop—raw, celebratory, and timeless. From the legends in attendance to the beats booming through the speakers, the 5 Mics session proved once again that the culture is alive, thriving, and always evolving.
