Thirteen-year NBA veteran Marcus Morris Sr. was arrested over the weekend on fraud charges in Broward County, Florida. According to online booking records, the 34-year-old forward was taken into custody on Sunday. His mugshot, released by Florida authorities, shows Morris with a serious expression, offering no comment through his demeanor.
Morris, a former standout at the University of Kansas, was selected 14th overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2011 NBA Draft. He went on to have a journeyman career in the league, spending time with several teams including the Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Clippers. Most recently, Morris split time between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2023–2024 season.
Across 832 games, Morris averaged 12.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Known for his toughness and versatility on the court, he brought a veteran presence to each locker room he joined.
This isn’t the first time Morris has had a brush with the law. In 2012, he entered a diversion program stemming from a battery charge. He and his twin brother, Markieff Morris, were also acquitted of assault charges related to a 2015 incident involving an alleged brawl.
As of now, details surrounding the nature of the fraud allegations remain limited. Law enforcement officials have yet to release further information. Requests for comment from authorities have not been returned at this time.
