Nvy Jonez Lkr, Chop The Father, & Nuglife End The Year as “DESPERADOZ” (EP Review)

The DESPERADOZ EP, a potent four-track collaboration between emcees Nvy Jonez Lkr, Chop The Father, and producer Nuglife, is a raw and cohesive journey through dusty, sample-heavy soundscapes. Nuglife’s production lays the foundation with its signature blend of crackling drums and cinematic loops, creating a desolate yet captivating backdrop perfectly suited for the project’s featured roster, including Papa J. Ruiz, Sirrealist, Inzom, and Viva Mescal. This is music that feels lived-in, where every vocal sample and melancholic chord progression serves the larger narrative of resilience and street-worn philosophy.

Standout moments solidify the EP’s impact. “Rollin My Life” is a masterclass in lyrical synergy, as Nvy Jonez Lkr and Chop The Father trade commanding verses over a hypnotic, piano-laced Nuglife beat, each bar reinforcing their steadfast dedication to their path. Later, “Sun Burnin” ft. Sirrealist shifts the vibe into a realm of hazy, sun-bleached reflection, where Sirrealist’s distinctive flow melds seamlessly with the smoky instrumental, capturing a specific mood of relentless heat—both environmental and personal. Together, these tracks showcase a collective of names we are familiar with operating at a high level, delivering a immersive listen that leaves a lasting impression for underground heads.

Score: 8/10
