Busta Rhymes to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

With just two weeks until the 2025 Caribbean Music Awards, the Caribbean Elite Group has announced that Jamaican-American hip hop legend Busta Rhymes will be honored with the Elite Icon award. The accolade recognizes his decades of influence, his trailblazing career, and his unique ability to fuse his Caribbean roots with global mainstream hip hop.

Busta’s presence in music has always been larger than life. From his rapid-fire delivery and explosive stage performances to his visionary approach to sound and style, he’s pushed boundaries and inspired generations. His recognition as an Elite Icon is not only well-earned, but a celebration of the cultural bridge he’s built between the Caribbean and the wider music world.

This year’s awards will once again spotlight multiculturalism, with a focus on the Caribbean’s vibrant musical landscape. Hosted for the second year in a row by the King of Caribbean Comedy, Majah Hype, the night promises energy and surprises. “I’m beyond thrilled to be hosting the 2025 Caribbean Music Awards for another year! The energy, the talent, the culture…it’s going to be an unforgettable night! Get ready to expect the unexpected!” he said.

The theme, “Voice of the Caribbean,” will be brought to life through an all-star lineup. Performers include three-time CMA winner Skinny Fabulous, two-time winners Lila Iké and Ding Dong, “Ring Finger” hitmaker Lady Lava, streaming favorite Kranium, 2023 CMA Impact Award winner Chronic Law, and reggae standout Romain Virgo, who claimed Artist of the Year (Male) in 2024. Also set to take the stage are Trinidadian collective Full Blown, Martinique’s self-proclaimed “Bad Queen” Maureen, and dancehall hitmaker Konshens. More performers are expected to be announced in the coming days.

In addition to Busta Rhymes, several other influential figures will be honored, including Haitian konpa legends Carimi, the philanthropic Sizzla Youth Foundation, and gospel powerhouse Shirleyann Cyril-Mayers. They join a lineup of celebrated names such as Bounty Killer, Austin “Super Blue” Lyons, and Kerwin Du Bois, ensuring the 2025 Caribbean Music Awards will be a night of history, culture, and world-class performances.
