Drake appeared to reignite his long-running feud with Kendrick Lamar ahead of the third installment of his “Iceman” series with a song called “Who Was It?” There are several lines that directly reference Lamar’s Grammy Award-winning diss track, “Not Like Us.”

“You mentionin’ A minor, but n##### gotta B sharp and tell the fans, ‘Who was it?’” Drake rapped, flipping a musical pun into a lyrical jab. The line is a clear response to Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” where Kendrick Lamar rapped, “Why you trollin’ like a b####? Ain’t you tired?/Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor,” a subtle but stinging shot at Drake’s alleged personal controversies.

In fact, the entire verse sounds like it’s aimed at Kendrick Lamar.

“Drake is not a name you gon’ see on no sex offender list, Eazy-Duz-It,” he raps. “You mentionin’ A minor, but n##### gotta B sharp and tell the fans, ‘Who was it?’/You though you left D flat, D major, I’ll slit your throat with the razor/And do Rick Ross Air like that one from Malaysia/I’m your baby mama’s screen saver.

”Only f#####’ with Whitneys, not Millie Bobby Browns, I’d never look twice at no teenager/I’m a f###### hitmaker dog, not a peacemaker/Yeah, bullets that I’m stuffin’ in each chamber, your ass in extreme danger/Stop buyin’ views and bot comments, you may as well keep the paper/S### you ‘bout to need for later/I give a f### about your streamin’ data.”

Although that’s debatable. Drake filed a high-profile lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), his own label, claiming that it engaged in defamation and harassment by aggressively promoting “Not Like Us” during their much-publicized feud.

According to Drake’s court filings, UMG purposely spread what he calls a “false and malicious narrative” that labels him a pedophile, both by sanctioning the track’s release and by orchestrating a promotional campaign that included lifting copyright restrictions and incentivizing media coverage.

The suit emphasizes that Drake is not suing Kendrick Lamar directly, but instead asserts that UMG’s actions endangered his safety—citing security incidents at his house in Toronto—and sought to damage his reputation to pressure him into renegotiating his contract. UMG has dismissed the lawsuit as baseless, framing it as an attempt by Drake to recover from his defeat in the rap feud, while Drake’s legal team alleges the company exploited the controversy for corporate gain at his expense.

The tension between Drake Archives and Kendrick Lamar dates back over a decade, but it escalated last year when both artists released a series of diss tracks targeting each other. The lyrical back-and-forth reached a boiling point when Lamar dropped “Not Like Us,” a track that not only dominated streaming platforms but also became a cultural moment.

“Not Like Us” went on to win multiple Grammy Awards and was performed during Lamar’s 2025 Super Bowl halftime appearance, cementing its place as one of the most impactful Hip-Hop diss tracks in recent memory. The song’s success added fuel to the rivalry, with Drake now firing back in his own unmistakable way.
