President Trump Pulls Up To Yankee Stadium On 9/11, Gives Yanks Pep Talk Before The Game

On a day of deep remembrance across the country, President Donald Trump made his way to Yankee Stadium on the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, not only to honor the lives lost but also to bring some encouragement to the Bronx Bombers before they took the field against the Detroit Tigers.

Fresh off a stop at the Pentagon earlier in the day, Trump arrived in the Bronx and joined the Yankees in the clubhouse. Speaking directly to the team, he delivered a pep talk that blended nostalgia with optimism, reminding players of the franchise’s tradition of greatness and predicting big things for the remainder of the season.

“You’re gonna win. I’ll tell you what, George Steinbrenner was a great friend of mine, the whole family,” Trump told the team. “For some reason, I don’t know what it was, we won every time I came.”

The President even poked fun at his late friend Steinbrenner, saying, “You think that was easy sitting with him for a game? It wasn’t. It was brutal. You were exhausted at the end, but he won and you’re gonna win, you’re gonna go all the way and you’ll get in the playoff and I think you’re gonna.”

Trump urged the Yankees to use that night’s game as the turning point to spark their push toward October baseball. He also found time to joke about the team’s archrival, the Boston Red Sox, referencing their hot streak after visiting the White House years ago.

After the pep talk, Trump settled into a suite alongside Yankees president Randy Levine and longtime ally Bill O’Reilly to watch the game. Before first pitch, the stadium observed a moment of silence for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, whose tragic death this week added even more weight to the day.

Tonight, we remember those we lost, the heroism of all who bravely sacrificed their own lives to save others, and those who died from illnesses obtained at Ground Zero. Their spirit lives on today with our First Responders and all who serve our communities and our country.

The Yankees went on to fall to the Tigers, 6–3, despite home runs from Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres.

While 9/11 remains one of the most somber dates in American history, Trump’s appearance at Yankee Stadium struck a balance between remembrance and resilience. The crowd responded warmly, with chants of “USA” echoing through the ballpark; a reminder of how baseball continues to serve as a unifying force in tough times.
