It’s been a rough week in politics and next summer is apparently only going to get rougher- literally. UFC superstar Conor McGregor appears to have “definitely” confirmed his participation in next summer’s UFC fight that President Donald Trump and Dana White have proposed take place to commemorate the nation’s 250th birthday.

A TikTok video shows McGregor confirming that he will take place at the cage fighting event, which is tentatively scheduled to take place on the White House lawn next June or July, saying that he is “eager, excited, and motivated.”

“I’m ecstatic,” he says in the clip. “The Mac is back, and what better event than to grace the White House lawn?”

He described how he was excited that the event might possibly be pushed up from its proposed date of July 4th to June, jokingly suggesting that it be moved up even earlier, describing the event as “my event.”

He also responded to the interviewer pointing out that Musk had endorsed him (McGregor), calling Musk “an actual superhero,” “a great man,” and “a credit to humanity.”

When asked if he might participate in Irish politics himself, the Irishman deferred, calling himself simply “a man of Ireland.”

The event is tentatively scheduled to take place on July 4th, 2026 on the White House Lawn (although reports indicate that it could take place as early as June). While Trump had originally had said that he wanted “about 20,000 to 25,000 people” to attend the event, CBS News reports that White has said that it will likely be closer to 5,000 people in actual attendance due to security concerns.

McGregor has not fought since 2021 when he broke his leg in a fight with Dustin Poirier. Despite this, White has repeatedly suggested that he would like McGregor to be on the event’s main card.
