The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled that the remains belonged to 15 year old Celeste Rivas, who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California in April 2024. The cause of death has not yet been determined, as the investigation is still ongoing.
Reports note that Rivas was last seen months earlier, and her mother told media outlets she suspected the remains were her daughter after learning of a distinctive “Shhh…” tattoo on the victim’s finger. TMZ pointed out that both Rivas and D4vd share the same tattoo in the same location on their right index fingers, though the design is not exclusive.
Police discovered the “severely decomposed” body earlier this month after a strong odor led to a search of the vehicle. The Tesla Model Y, belonging to the 20 year old singer, had been abandoned for several days in the Hollywood Hills before being towed. Rolling Stone reported the car had been spotted in multiple areas before ultimately sitting untouched for nearly three weeks.
D4vd, who rose to fame on TikTok before breaking into mainstream music, has not personally spoken on the tragedy. A spokesperson told NBC News the artist is aware of the situation and is cooperating with investigators while continuing his tour.
The fallout has already reached his business relationships. Crocs and Hollister, who recently launched collaborative campaigns with the singer, announced they have pulled promotional content featuring him until further notice. “We are aware of this developing story. With respect to the current situation, we have removed campaign content featuring D4vd while the investigation continues,” the brands said in a joint statement. While the ads have been removed, products from the collaborations remain available online.
