Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has officially been confirmed to have died from a heart attack, according to records released by the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center.
The 71-year-old WWE Hall of Famer passed away following an acute myocardial infarction—commonly referred to as a heart attack—at his home in Clearwater, Florida. The New York Post reports that Hogan also had a known history of atrial fibrillation, a condition characterized by an irregular heartbeat. Additionally, he had been diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a form of blood cancer, though details about the progression of the illness remain unclear.
Emergency responders arrived at Hogan’s home at 9:51 a.m. after receiving a 911 call for cardiac arrest. Despite the efforts of paramedics and hospital staff, Hogan was pronounced dead shortly after 11 a.m.
While Hogan had openly discussed his numerous health issues in recent years, including undergoing at least 25 surgeries in a decade, his wife, Sky, had recently assured fans that his heart was “strong” and denied circulating rumors that he was in a coma.
Following his passing, WWE held tribute segments in Hogan’s honor at multiple events, including a heartfelt moment on Monday Night Raw, where his son Nick Hogan was in attendance.
Hogan, born Terry Bollea, was one of the most recognizable figures in professional wrestling, transcending the sport to become a global pop culture icon.
