Nicki Minaj found herself in an uncomfortable onstage moment during Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest convention over the weekend while participating in a sitdown with Erika Kirk.

During the discussion, Minaj praised President Donald Trump, calling him “handsome,” before making a comment about Vice President JD Vance that quickly shifted the tone of the conversation. Minaj referred to Vance as an “assassin,” a choice of words that appeared to catch her off guard moments later.

Following the remark, Minaj fell silent, seemingly realizing the sensitivity of the phrasing while speaking in front of Erika Kirk, who has been publicly identified as the widow of Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in September. The pause created a visibly awkward moment onstage, drawing attention from attendees and viewers online.

The exchange quickly circulated across social media, with clips and commentary highlighting Minaj’s sudden hesitation and the tension in the room. While Minaj did not immediately clarify or walk back the statement during the event, the moment stood out amid an otherwise politically charged appearance.
