Sean Combs’ legal team has officially filed a motion asking the court to grant his release while he awaits sentencing, arguing that his circumstances are unlike any other case on record.
In documents submitted Tuesday to Judge Arun Subramanian, Combs’ attorneys pointed to his acquittal on the most serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, while framing his two guilty verdicts—related to transporting women across state lines for prostitution, as legally and socially unorthodox. They insisted that “Sean Combs should not be in jail for this conduct,” adding, “he may be the only person currently in a United States jail for being any sort of john, and certainly the only person in jail for hiring adult male escorts for him and his girlfriend, when he did not even have sex with the escort himself.”
His legal team emphasized Combs’ completion of a domestic violence program and his role as a father of seven. “If released on conditions, Sean Combs will not be violent to anyone,” the lawyers wrote. “As we said in court, this jury gave him his life back, and he will not squander his second chance at life, nor would he do anything to further jeopardize his seven children not having a father, and four of his children not having a parent at all.”
To support their motion, Combs’ lawyers offered a $50 million bail package secured by his Miami home and co-signed by three financially responsible individuals. They also proposed that he remain confined to the residence, surrender his passport, and only travel for court-related matters.
Meanwhile, Casandra “Cassie” Fine’s legal team filed a letter urging the court to keep Combs in custody. “Ms. Ventura believes that Mr. Combs is likely to pose a danger to the victims who testified in this case, including herself, as well as to the community,” the letter read.
As of now, the court has not yet issued a decision on the motion.
Our money says probably not happening but what do we know.
