The Source |Harlem to Honor Grammy-Winning Artist Fatman Scoop with Street Co-Naming Ceremony

In a tribute to his decades-long impact on music, entertainment, and community empowerment, Grammy Award-winning artist and proud Harlem native Isaac “Fatman Scoop” Freeman III will have a street co-named in his honor. The Freeman Family, in partnership with NYC Council Member Dr. Yusef Salaam and the Forever Fatman Scoop Foundation, has announced that the intersection of 109th Street and 5th Avenue will be officially co-named “Isaac ‘Fatman Scoop’ Freeman III Place.”

The official street co-naming ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM.

Known for his unmistakable voice, high-energy performances, and enduring cultural relevance, Fatman Scoop is celebrated not only as a global entertainer but as a son of Harlem whose roots remain deeply planted in the neighborhood. This ceremonial renaming recognizes his profound influence and commitment to the community that raised him.
