In a somewhat expected turn of events, Wendy Williams will remain under guardianship following new medical evaluations, despite her continued push for independence.
Get this, PEOPLE Magazine reports that the former talk show host recently underwent an extensive series of assessments, including numerous medical and neuropsychological tests as well as brain imaging. The results confirmed her diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia.
In case you missed it, her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, requested a three-month extension to keep the guardianship in place through Nov. 3, allowing the judge more time to make a long-term determination. Morrissey’s legal team stated that “complications have arisen” as multiple parties have taken steps to challenge both the guardianship and her position as guardian.
In case you really missed this too, Williams’ FTD and aphasia diagnoses were first made public in February 2024 in a statement that urged “understanding and compassion for Wendy.” The veteran broadcaster has also been candid about her struggles with Graves’ Disease, Lymphedema, and other health challenges.
