Gucci Mane dropped a bombshell about his past mental health battles and a dramatic intervention by his wife, Keyshia Ka’oir, as he announced his second memoir, Episodes and its companion album of the same name.

The Atlanta rapper revealed in an Instagram video that Episodes, out October 14 via Simon & Schuster, dives deep into his personal history, including addiction, family trauma and moments of instability.

“It talks about the time when I was going through an episode and my wife kidnapped me with my six bodyguards from the Porsche and had to take me to a mental hospital,” he said. “This book is serious, like, I’m really just like, you know, pulling back the cover and talking about my life.”

Gucci Mane didn’t hold back in the new book. The memoir recounts chaotic periods from his life, including the infamous moment he got an ice cream cone tattooed on his face.

“It talks about the time I was high as hell and got the ice cream cone tattoo,” he said. “It talks about the time me and Scooter seen each other in the airport, and we got into it when I was going through an episode.”

The book also explores his upbringing, his early days hustling with OJ Da Juiceman, and his complicated relationship with his mother, revealing that she once attempted to establish a conservatorship over him.

“It talks about me and OJ growing up trapping. It even talks about me and my momma and our strained relationship from when she tried to get the thing, like Britney Spears got on her, my mom tried to do that to me.”

The new book aims to connect with readers who have faced similar mental health challenges. “So anybody who got family members or they self is dealing with mental health issues, you need to get this book,” he said.
