Entirely written and produced by Crooks himself, the album plays like a film scored in real time. The opening run of “OLD RIFLE,” “BURST FIRE,” and “NOBODIES” establishes the cold, methodical world of a professional killer, while “SKIMASK INSIDE THE CLUB” delivers exactly the kind of tension its title suggests. The “GRAY MAN” and “ANGEL EYES” interludes function as scene transitions, giving the album a narrative cohesion that’s increasingly rare in the streaming era.
