Eminem’s long-awaited documentary Stans is set to hit theaters globally beginning August 7, offering an in-depth look at the intense connection between the rap icon and his most devoted fans.

Inspired by the rapper’s 2000 track “Stan,” which helped coin the modern term for obsessive fan culture, the film explores the dynamic between Eminem and the people who have followed his journey since the beginning. Through never-before-seen footage, dramatic recreations, and interviews with both the artist and his fans, the documentary presents a layered portrait of fame, loyalty, and cultural impact.

Directed by Emmy-winning journalist Steven Leckart and produced by Shady Films alongside Paul Rosenberg, Stuart Parr, Antoine Fuqua, Tony DiSanto, and David Schiff, Stans made its debut at the SXSW London Screen Festival in June. Fans dressed in tribute to the original “Stan” character flooded the red carpet, highlighting just how deep the fan connection still runs.

The film will have a limited theatrical run in the U.S. from August 7 to August 10 at more than 135 AMC Theatres, with at least two showings per day. AMC Empire 25 in New York City will host a special week-long run to qualify the film for awards consideration. Internationally, the film will screen in over 1,600 theaters across more than 50 countries.

Coinciding with the release, Stans: The Official Soundtrack is now available for pre-order and will feature unreleased tracks alongside music that inspired the documentary’s narrative.

In the trailer, Eminem poses a question to the audience: “What’s your first question?” It sets the tone for a reflective dive into the themes of identity, artistry, fan devotion, and the legacy of one of hip-hop’s most influential figures.

With Stans, Eminem shifts the spotlight to the people who helped shape his story, his fans, making it more than just a film about an artist, but a story about the power of connection.
