Just days after receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes is facing a lawsuit filed by a former assistant alleging assault and a hostile work environment.

Dashiel Gables, also known in the entertainment industry as “Divine”, has filed a civil suit against Rhymes, claiming the rapper physically assaulted him at his Jay Street condominium in Brooklyn. Gables is being represented by injury and criminal attorney Mark Panzavecchia.

According to the lawsuit, Gables alleges he was struck in the face multiple times, resulting in a swollen jaw and contusions that required hospitalization. He further claims the physical altercation was preceded by verbal abuse and that he endured an unsafe and hostile work environment while employed by Rhymes.

Gables is a well-known figure in artist management and tour support, having worked with acts such as Dylan, Young Dirty Bastard, Buju Banton, Junior Reid, Future Fambo, and others.

“People in the business know who Divine is. He’s not someone you disrespect, let alone hurt. He’s been the backbone of tours and careers,” said one senior industry executive who requested anonymity due to ongoing professional ties.

Another industry insider added, “Busta’s music is legendary, but honoring him with a star without acknowledging the damage done to people like Divine sends a terrible message to the industry and to aspiring artists and crew alike.”

The lawsuit comes shortly after Rhymes reportedly settled a separate civil case filed by a former driver involving similar allegations of assault and battery.

As of now, neither Busta Rhymes nor his representatives have issued a public comment regarding the most recent claims. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the Walk of Fame, has not responded to inquiries about whether the legal matter could affect Rhymes’ recently awarded star.
