AZ – Cred: Loe Kee Phlicks

On Friday, January 23rd, East Coast legend AZ took over La Santa in Orange County, delivering a night that felt equal parts nostalgic and timeless. The Queens MC brought the crowd straight back to the golden era of hip-hop with a powerful performance of his classic debut album, Doe or Die.

It’s been nearly 30 years since Doe or Die first dropped, yet the impact of the record still hits just as hard today. From the opening moments of the set, AZ reminded everyone why the album remains a cornerstone of East Coast rap—sharp lyricism, smooth delivery, and an effortless presence that hasn’t faded with time. Hearing these tracks live was more than a performance; it was a celebration of an era that continues to influence hip-hop culture.

The energy inside La Santa was electric as longtime fans and new listeners alike rapped along, proving that true classics never age. AZ commanded the stage with confidence, moving seamlessly through the set and showing why his name still carries weight decades later.

Joe The Poet – Cred: Loe Kee Phlicks

Kicking off the night was Joe The Poet, who set the tone with an ecstatic and engaging opening set. Joe captivated the crowd with his delivery while previewing new material, giving fans a glimpse of what’s next while warming up the room perfectly for the main event. His performance added depth to the night, blending spoken word energy with raw emotion and presence.

Overall, the show was a reminder of hip-hop’s longevity and the power of live performance. From Joe The Poet’s compelling opener to AZ’s unforgettable run through Doe or Die, the night at La Santa was one for the books—a true homage to the past, while still feeling alive in the present.
