Mo’Nique is standing on her ten toes, making it clear that her loyalty to Shannon Sharpe is unwavering, even after the NFL Hall of Famer reached a multi-million dollar settlement with his accuser, Gabi Zuniga.
The Academy Award-winning actress, who previously made headlines for criticizing Sharpe’s dating choices, addressed the matter during a recent session on the Gram.
But now, while speaking to her followers, Mo’Nique referred to Sharpe as her “brother” and expressed nothing but love for him despite the storm surrounding his name.
“We’ve all not walked the perfect line, we’ve all had mistakes, we’ve all taken a fall, we’ve all had to get up and get to going again,” she said, according to Complex. “So, that is my brother, and I love my brother.”
Get this, Mo’Nique went on to relate Sharpe’s situation to her battles in the entertainment industry, where she has publicly clashed with influential figures like Tyler Perry and Oprah. “I know what it feels like for people to quit on you and give up on you,” she explained. “That won’t be me. Shannon Sharpe? That’s Shay Shay, baby. We love him.”
She also recalled a moment during one of her comedy shows when an audience member tried to take a shot at Sharpe’s situation. Mo’Nique did not hold back. “I said, ‘B-tch, no, you won’t do that. No, you will not do that. No ma’am,’” she recounted. “Whatever you feeling about my brother, if you ain’t got something nice to say, be quiet.”
What’s more, Mo’Nique encouraged her nearly two million followers to avoid rushing to judgment and instead look inward before condemning others.
For context, Sharpe was sued in April 2025 by 20-year-old Zuniga, who accused him of rape and abuse during their two-year relationship. The $50 million lawsuit immediately drew attention, not only for the allegations but also for the large age gap between the two. Around that time, a resurfaced clip of Mo’Nique warning Sharpe on his podcast Club Shay Shay to stay away from younger women began making the rounds on socials.
