Nas is rallying Hip-Hop fans worldwide with a call to unite for the Hip Hop Museum’s “1 Dollar, 1 Mic, 1 Movement” campaign.

Nas kicked off a major movement for Hip-Hop and history with a $1 million donation at The Hip Hop Museum‘s 2025 Black Tie Gala, setting the tone for a worldwide $1 fundraising push happening December 2.

The Bronx-based institution is launching its “1 Dollar, 1 Mic, 1 Movement” campaign on Giving Tuesday, asking supporters across the globe to chip in just one dollar to help build Hip-Hop’s first permanent museum.

The campaign’s goal is simple: unite the culture through small donations that collectively create a powerful impact.

“Hip-Hop gave us a voice, let’s give it a home,” Nas stated.

Resorts World New York City matched Nas’s contribution, doubling the night’s total to $2 million and giving the museum’s campaign a significant lift.

Organizers now hope to tap into the worldwide Hip-Hop community’s strength in numbers.

The museum, which is set to open in late 2026 along the Harlem River in the Bronx, will celebrate every corner of the culture—from DJs and MCs to breakdancers and business pioneers. It will also spotlight Hip-Hop’s influence on activism and global movements.

The D.O.C. Joins “1 Dollar, 1 Mic, 1 Movement” Campaign

Several legends have already pledged their support for the “1 Dollar, 1 Mic, 1 Movement,” including Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Salt of Salt-N-Pepa, Big Daddy Kane, DJ Cassidy and The D.O.C.. Each will help spread the word ahead of the December 2 push.

The campaign’s concept leans on symbolism as much as fundraising. The idea is that every dollar represents a microphone—amplifying the voices and stories that shaped the genre’s past and future.

To participate, supporters can text 1DollarForHipHop to 707070 or donate online at thhm.org/1dollar.

The Bronx location is no accident. The borough is considered the birthplace of Hip-Hop, where DJ Kool Herc first experimented with breakbeats in the 1970s, laying the foundation for a global cultural force. The museum’s site along the Harlem River marks a return to where it all began.

The “1 Dollar, 1 Mic, 1 Movement” campaign officially launches on Giving Tuesday (December 2).
