Sheesh. The father of Boston Celtics super star Jaylen Brown was taken into custody on Thursday, August 21, after being accused of attempted murder in connection with a violent stabbing that unfolded the night before in a Las Vegas parking lot.
Get this, Local NBC News reports state that the altercation began at All American Park during a dispute tied to a parking spot “door ding.” Witnesses told authorities that the suspect, Quenton Marselles Brown, stabbed the victim in the stomach before fleeing the scene.
According to our friends at TMZ, the victim is a youth football coach who was rushed to the hospital for surgery. Medical staff told investigators he was left in critical condition with stab wounds to his back, clavicle, and hands, along with a broken rib.
What’s more, the victim’s girlfriend provided further details, claiming that Marselles, 57, clipped their car while backing out of his SUV. When confronted, he allegedly dismissed the damage saying, “It was just a bump,” and insulted her boyfriend by calling him a “b**** a**.” In response, the boyfriend reportedly slapped the SUV’s side mirror, prompting Marselles to ask, “If he wanted to go,” to which the man replied yes.
Another witness recounted that Marselles swung the knife “25 times” during the encounter. When officers located him later, he had cuts on his face and abrasions on his knees. The police report noted, “He spontaneously uttered that this was all over a door ding without being asked any questions by Patrol officers.” Authorities have not yet recovered the weapon used in the attack.
Marselles appeared in court Thursday afternoon following the arrest. TMZ added that Jaylen Brown “doesn’t have a close relationship with his father and was unaware of the arrest or incident.” Records also show that Marselles was previously arrested in Henderson, Nevada in 2016 on suspicion of battery causing substantial bodily harm.
