Janice Turner, widely known as “Mama Kingston” and the mother of recording artist Sean Kingston, was sentenced last week to five years in federal prison following her conviction on fraud charges in Miami. However, her legal troubles are far from over, as both she and her son are allegedly facing additional, unrelated grand theft charges out of California.

During federal discovery in the Miami case, it was revealed that both Janice Turner and Kisean Anderson (Sean Kingston’s professional name) have an active warrant in Van Nuys, California. This warrant stems from an alleged grand theft case involving over $100,000. The alleged incident reportedly occurred at their Encino residence, where they are accused of receiving a jewelry delivery and providing a fraudulent bank wire in return.

Crucially, this California incident was not included in the federal indictment that led to Turner’s recent conviction. This means that both she and Sean Kingston will still need to face the state court system in California. Given that state sentences typically commence after federal sentences are served, there is a possibility that Janice Turner could remain incarcerated for the remainder of her life.

The new allegations add a complex layer to the legal challenges facing the mother-son duo, signaling a prolonged battle in the courts.
