Nike continues to deepen its connection to global soccer and local culture with the launch of Toma LA, the first chapter of its broader Toma El Juego initiative. Designed to spotlight the vibrant intersection of sport, identity, and creativity in Los Angeles, Toma LA features bespoke soccer kits and apparel created in collaboration with LA-based streetwear and skate brands Paisaboys and Badfriend.
Both partners were tapped to design match kits for neighborhood crews competing in the Toma LA finals on July 26. With a D.I.Y. approach and a future-focused vision, Paisaboys and Badfriend each crafted distinctive player jerseys and capsule collections that reflect the visual and cultural DNA of their respective neighborhoods. Their kits incorporate mixed media, illustration, claymation, stenciling, and sculpture, blurring the lines between art and performance.
Neighborhood teams sporting the Badfriend x Nike kits include Culture FC, Football for Her, House of 626, and Tiki-Taka. The Paisaboys x Nike kits will be worn by Insainz, La Comunidad, Toque, and Venice Beach Football Club (VBFC). These kits not only unify each squad but also represent the unique cultural identity of their LA communities.
Beyond the pitch, Nike and its collaborators have created a limited capsule collection featuring lifestyle versions of the tournament kits, along with exclusive tees and hoodies. Fans can get early access to the collections at the Toma LA Finals event. A broader release will follow on July 31 at Niky’s Santa Monica and key Los Angeles retailers, including Undefeated La Brea, Union LA, Homebred, Sally’s Shoes in El Monte, Bodega LA, Private Sneakers Long Beach, and BAIT Melrose.
Toma LA is not just a tournament—it is a movement celebrating the creativity, energy, and diversity of LA’s soccer and streetwear scenes. With this launch, Nike reinforces its commitment to supporting communities that shape the future of sport and culture alike.
