On September 14, Major League Baseball will honor one of its most enduring legends with an event at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park, where fans will gather for an exclusive screening of the award-winning documentary Clemente.

The film, produced by Vinegar Hill and executive-produced by LeBron James and Richard Linklater, dives deep into the life and legacy of Roberto Clemente; not just as a Hall of Famer, but as a humanitarian whose influence continues to ripple far beyond the game. After winning the 2024 Documentary Spotlight Audience Award at SXSW, it has become a centerpiece in retelling Clemente’s story for a new generation of fans.

The event arrives on the eve of Major League Baseball’s annual Roberto Clemente Day, when all 30 clubs celebrate his legacy both on the field and in the community. For many across the game, Clemente is not just remembered for his 3,000 hits or two World Series rings, but for his unshakable commitment to service, dignity, and the human side of the sport.

Fans attending the screening will watch under the lights of PNC Park’s main scoreboard, with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. and the feature beginning at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are set at $15, or two for $21 in tribute to Clemente’s iconic number. VIP tickets, priced at $75, include light refreshments and a post-screening Q&A featuring members of the Clemente family, former Pirates, and special guests.

All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Clemente Foundation and help continue the promotion of the film. More importantly, it provides another platform to spotlight Clemente’s story; a reminder that his name belongs not just to Pittsburgh, but to baseball history itself.

Roberto Clemente remains one of the rare players whose legacy extends far beyond statistics. His example of excellence and humanity continues to shape how the game is played, how communities are served, and how future generations understand what it truly means to be a ballplayer.
