Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is standing her ground after Donald Trump took aim at her intelligence during a recent CNBC interview. The Texas lawmaker, who represents the 30th district, did not hold back after being referred to as a “low IQ person” by Trump, who also made a mock reference to American folk hero Davy Crockett.
“I mean, when you have low IQ people like Crockett, I wonder if she’s any relationship to the late, great Davy Crockett, who was a great, great, a great gentleman,” Trump said. “But you have this woman, Crockett. Very low IQ person. Somebody said the other day she’s one of the leaders of the party. I said, you’ve got to be kidding.”
Crockett, a fast-rising progressive voice in Washington and former civil rights attorney, quickly fired back during a CNN interview with Kaitlan Collins. She called out Trump for what she sees as a long-standing pattern of targeting people of color with coded language and disrespect.
“He just knows how to throw that insult,” Crockett explained. “But it’s a common insult when it comes to people of color. He just threw the same insult at Charlamagne tha God, and so I want people to see him and understand who he is. This is a person that has a problem with people of color, period. I don’t care how many Black MAGA are out there with their hats.”
The Congresswoman did not stop there. She took a direct shot at Trump’s track record and the makeup of his former administration.
“When we look at who it is that he’s kicking out of this country, it is people of color. When we look at who he always disrespects and says are low IQ, even though, when you look at his cabinet, this has to be the most incompetent cabinet we have ever had in the history of this country.”
She also pointed out the irony of labeling others as unintelligent while appointing officials who lacked even the most basic tech skills.
“We’re talking about people that literally have the ability to drop bombs or order that bombs be dropped, or make recommendations that bombs be dropped, and they literally don’t know how to get the Signal chat. Right? So we’re talking about low IQ individuals, but so long as they say that this guy is their guy, and usually if they work for a certain news network, that’s the only qualification that’s necessary.”
Known for her sharp presence during committee hearings and her no-nonsense approach to political debates, Crockett’s response once again showcased her readiness to meet aggression with clarity and fire.
In the same interview, she also addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding Ghislaine Maxwell’s transfer to a minimum-security facility. Trump had claimed ignorance of the move, despite growing questions about his past ties to Jeffrey Epstein and the contents of sealed court documents.
As Crockett continues to rise within the political spotlight, her unapologetic stance and refusal to be silenced are quickly becoming part of her signature.
