Authorities confirm that comedian Reggie Carroll, a Baltimore native known for his nationwide stand-up tours, was shot and killed in Mississippi last week. Carroll, 52, was reportedly gunned down in Southaven on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Southaven Police Department.

Officers responded to Burton Lane after reports of a shooting and found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Carroll was pronounced dead at the scene.

“One male is in custody and has been charged with the murder of Reginald Carroll,” police said. “Our thoughts are with the family of Mr. Carroll. Thank you to the community for their patience and understanding.” The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet released the identity of the suspect.

Carroll, often referred to as “The Knockout King of Comedy,” gained a devoted following through his stand-up specials, which he hosted and produced himself. He was celebrated for his high-energy performances, sharp timing, and ability to connect with audiences nationwide. In addition to touring extensively, Carroll appeared on television programs such as Showtime at the Apollo and The Parkers, leaving an indelible mark on the comedy scene. Colleagues remember him not only for his humor but also for his professionalism and dedication to uplifting fellow comedians.

His passing leaves a void in the comedy community, and fans across the country are paying tribute to a performer whose talent and charisma will not be forgotten. Carroll’s legacy, built on laughter, hard work, and perseverance, continues to resonate, giving audiences the power of comedy and the reminder that after the laughter comes the tears.
